How our felt textiles work in different rooms

Every space has its own demands. Living rooms and bedrooms need comfort and warm surfaces, while clinics, schools and open-plan offices focus on durable finishes and sound control. Our Softline Wall Felt and Acoustic Panel Felt are designed for walls and ceilings, absorbing speech and echo, choose panelised tiles for meeting rooms or continuous felt for corridors and reception areas.

Floors and stairs take knocks, dust and sun. Hearth Runner and Entry Mat Soft help to soften noise and protect high-traffic areas, while Stair Nose Soft wraps timber steps for quieter, safer treads. For built-in seats or window bays, Window Seat Cushion and Banquette Wrap add resilience and stay comfortable in busy homes, cafés or hotels.

Choosing between wool and polyester acoustic felt

Wool felt, used in our Merino Plinth Felt, Soft Tray Nest, Banquette Wrap and many seat pieces, is naturally tough, self-extinguishes if ignited and helps buffer humidity in bedrooms or living rooms. Wool suits dry inland winters but always brush and vacuum to keep moths away, and spot clean cool. Polyester acoustic felt, an option for our wall and acoustic pieces, shrugs off humidity and moths, a practical choice for clinics, schools and coastal homes. It is easy to spot clean with mild upholstery shampoo, though keep hot irons and lamps away from polyester.

Care, cleaning and getting samples

Regular cleaning keeps felt looking good and working well. For wool felt, use a vacuum or soft brush, blot spills with cool water and mild soap, and avoid rubbing or tumble drying. Polyester acoustic felt can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild cleaner, but never use heat. UV light can fade any dyed textile, so rotate pieces near sunny windows if possible.
