What Acoustic Panel Felt is for

Acoustic Panel Felt is our modular felt tile designed for spaces where speech clarity and comfort are important, like meeting rooms, clinics, and classrooms. These tiles help soften the room, reducing that echo you get from hard walls and ceilings.

Unlike some wall finishes that can feel stark or clinical, our felt panels add a gentle texture and warmth. The finish helps quiet everyday clatter and conversation, making it easier for people to hear and concentrate or feel at ease while waiting.

How these panels work in real rooms

Felt is a non-woven textile, so its edges do not fray and it can be trimmed neatly on site if needed. In use, Acoustic Panel Felt softens sharp echoes and helps dampen noise, especially at the speech and activity frequencies that matter most in shared spaces.

The densified felt construction absorbs sound energy, but its effectiveness depends on how it’s fitted. Panels mounted with a small air gap behind them will absorb more sound than ones fixed flat to the wall. Felt also makes a cold plastered wall feel less harsh to the touch in a Joburg winter, although it is no substitute for proper insulation.

Choosing size and colour for your project

We make Acoustic Panel Felt tiles in two sizes: 600×600 mm and 600×1200 mm. Both work well in regular grid layouts or as flexible accents. In larger rooms, the bigger tile can speed up fitting and create a cleaner look with fewer joints.

Our finish options include Sage Field, Mist Paper, Ink Edge, Soft Leaf, Stone Wash, Cloud Pale, Forest Mute, Sand Quiet, Clay Mute and Teal Soft. We always recommend seeing a physical sample in your own light before you make a final decision on colour, as South African sun and shade can really shift how a textile shows.

Fitting, care and what to expect in the first months

Panels fix securely with clips or screws, which we can supply or install for you. The non-woven structure means you dont have to worry about frayed edges if you need to trim a tile to fit around a socket or door. The surface can be gently spot cleaned if needed: always blot rather than rub, and dry flat if a tile is removed.

In the first months after installation, rooms feel warmer and a bit quieter as the felt absorbs day-to-day sounds. For best results, vacuum panels every so often to remove dust, and check for any knocks if your space has high foot traffic or lively children.
