Everyday care keeps panels fresh

Acoustic Panel Felt responds well to regular light cleaning. Dust and lint can be brushed away with a soft clothes brush or swept off using a gentle vacuum cleaner head. Always work in the direction of the panel seams and avoid pressing too hard, especially along the edges.

In busy rooms or places with pets and children, a quick brush or very gentle vacuum once a week will prevent dust from settling too deep. If you manage a busy office or public space, schedule a quick check with your cleaning team to keep panels free of cobwebs and fingerprints.

Dealing with spots and spills the right way

If something spills on Acoustic Panel Felt, act quickly before it soaks in. Use a clean, dry cloth or kitchen paper to blot (never rub) as much liquid as possible. For most marks, a little cool water with a small amount of wool wash or mild upholstery shampoo is safe, but always test gently on a hidden corner first.

Dab the solution on with a soft cloth, then blot with a dry one. Never soak the felt or scrub, as this can distort the surface. Allow the panel to air dry fully, away from direct sun or artificial heat.

Seasonal care for South African interiors

Johannesburg’s Highveld rooms collect dust in dry winters and get plenty of sun, so rotate or shade panels near bright windows to reduce fading. In coastal cities like Durban or Cape Town, check for damp: open windows on dry days and avoid closing off rooms for weeks, as felt can go musty if left damp and unventilated.

If panels are exposed to moths in rarely used rooms, vacuum and inspect regularly. Never store felt panels dirty or sealed in plastic. For long-term storage, dry them fully, store flat in a clean, dry cupboard, and make sure there is some airflow around them.

When to call Pieter Nel for advice or repairs

Some situations call for expert care. If your Acoustic Panel Felt shows dents that will not brush out, has been damaged by water or cleaning products, or needs to be moved to a new wall, our installation and care lead, Pieter Nel, can help restore it.

It is always better to ask than to risk damage: for commercial fit-outs, large stains, or uncertain panel movement, Pieter is your go-to person.
