Plinth wrap
Merino Plinth Felt is dense, soft merino blend felt for wrapping plinths and low ledges, adding quiet comfort to living rooms, galleries and reception spaces.
Merino Plinth Felt is a dense, 8 mm thick merino blend felt made for wrapping plinths, low ledges and display edges. It turns cold, hard details into soft, tactile features in both homes and commercial spaces.
You will see it used along gallery benches, window ledges, reception desks, apartment living areas, and anywhere a hard edge needs quietening and a bit of warmth. The soft knife-cut edge means it sits cleanly against timber, stone or board without fraying or a bulky seam.
This felt takes the edge off clatter and echo at ground and seat level, especially in open-plan living rooms, foyers, or school corridors. The density of the merino blend helps to muffle dropped keys and soften the sound of shoes or stools moving along a ledge.
Wool felt naturally buffers temperature swings and takes up some moisture vapour, so plinths stay warmer to the touch in winter and never feel sticky in humid spells. The 8 mm densified body is made to hold its shape under light daily use, with enough grip to stay put if fitted tightly.
Select your width up to 1400 mm to cover most plinths, ledges and bench tops in one clean piece. We always recommend measuring your plinth length and depth carefully before finalising your order. The 8 mm thickness is set for this product, providing enough comfort and durability for both homes and public areas.
Merino Plinth Felt is available in all our current felt finishes: Sage Field, Mist Paper, Ink Edge, Soft Leaf, Stone Wash, Cloud Pale, Forest Mute, Sand Quiet, Clay Mute and Teal Soft. If you are unsure which colour best suits your room, visit our Woodstock studio or request sample swatches to view in your own light.
For neatest results, Merino Plinth Felt is usually wrapped tightly around the edge and fixed with hidden adhesive or a staple line along the underside. The cut edge does not fray and stays crisp with regular light brushing or vacuuming. In reception spaces and homes, felt does best in rooms with some daily air movement and light.
On the Highveld or in the Cape winter, make sure rooms do not stay damp and closed for days, as wool felt needs to dry out fully. Spot clean spills promptly with a cool damp cloth, blotting rather than rubbing, and let the felt dry flat in the shade. To avoid moth damage, do not leave the felt dirty or undisturbed for long periods, especially in storerooms.
