Partition Screen Felt stands up well to everyday office and hospitality use, but a few good habits help it look fresh and last longer. Here is how to care for felt screens.

Partition Screen Felt is designed to handle daily use in shared spaces, but regular light cleaning keeps it at its best. Use a soft brush or vacuum with a gentle upholstery nozzle to remove dust and fibre build-up from both sides of the screen. This is especially important in busy offices, clinics, or classrooms where screens might catch airborne dust or fluff.
If the screen stands in a thoroughfare or workspace, try to brush or vacuum weekly, moving with the grain of the felt. Always check for paperclips, pins or sticky labels before vacuuming to avoid dragging debris along the surface.
Partition screens in meeting rooms or canteens are bound to meet the odd spill or mark. Act quickly: blot up liquid with absorbent paper or a soft cloth, working from the outside in. Avoid rubbing, as this can fuzz the felt or push stains deeper.
Use cool water and, if needed, a little diluted wool wash or mild upholstery shampoo. Always test your cleaner in a hidden corner first. Spot clean only, never soak the panel. Once done, let the felt dry flat in shade with good airflow, avoiding heaters or direct sun.
On the Highveld, dry winters bring extra dust. Schedule a deep clean before and after the dusty season, and rotate screens away from strong sun to reduce fading. In KwaZulu-Natal or the coast, keep an eye out for damp or mustiness, felt needs airflow, so make sure rooms do not stay closed up for long.
Moths and beetles can be a risk for wool-rich felt, especially if screens stand in quiet storage or stay dirty. Brush and vacuum screens regularly and never store them dirty or sealed in plastic. If you close up a space for a while, open windows when possible to avoid stale air.
Most everyday cleaning and spot care is quick to manage yourself, but some situations call for our specialist. If you are unsure about a stain, notice damage or need help moving or reinstalling large screens, our installation and care lead Pieter Nel can advise or assist.
We also recommend getting in touch if your screens show signs of sagging, warping or have been affected by water leaks.
