Spa treatment

In spa treatment rooms, sound carries too easily and hard finishes feel cold. Felt wall and ceiling finishes create a quieter, warmer space for calm and privacy.

Outcome

Treatment rooms that sound as soft as they look.

Everyday problems in treatment rooms

Treatment rooms should be quiet and calm, but many echo with voices from the passage, trolleys rolling by or the next room’s music. Hard surfaces like tiles, glass and painted walls bounce sound around, so private conversations can be overheard and every movement echoes.

Floors often feel cold underfoot, especially in Joburg winters or Cape Town’s wet season. If the room faces the sun, UV quickly fades standard fabrics and brings extra heat. On the coast, damp air can lead to mould or mustiness in poorly ventilated corners.

Felt finishes to hush and soften

Softline Wall Felt is our choice for treatment room walls. It absorbs clatter and speech, reducing echoes and making the room feel quieter and softer. It can be run floor-to-ceiling as a single field or as taller panels behind the bed and seating areas.

Ceiling Cloud Felt is ideal above the treatment bed, especially in rooms with high or hard ceilings. These suspended felt clouds absorb overhead noise, dampen footsteps from above and add a visual calm when clients look up.

For a seating nook or window ledge, our Window Seat Cushion in a felt or linen cover adds comfort and warmth, making the waiting area more inviting. All our felt comes in gentle colourways to suit spa palettes, from Mist Paper to Sage Field.

How to plan and fit felt finishes

Start by walking the room and listening for sound issues: can you hear voices or footsteps from next door or above? Decide which surfaces need the most help, usually the bed wall and ceiling. Measure these areas carefully, including power points, switches and built-in furniture.

Visit our Woodstock studio or one of our sample showrooms to see and handle felt options. Pick colourways under the actual room light, as natural and LED light can change how the felt looks.

For fitting, Softline Wall Felt can be rail-mounted for easy removal or adhesive-fixed for a continuous look. Ceiling Cloud Felt hangs from a discreet rail kit. We measure, deliver and install across South Africa, including Joburg, Durban and Cape Town.

Mistakes and how to avoid them

Thin felt glued flat to a wall may not give enough sound absorption, especially for lower voices. Ask for test data and details about mounting, as absorption improves with an air gap or thicker layers.

Avoid placing felt finishes right against damp exterior walls without checking for leaks or condensation. In Durban and coastal areas, regular airflow helps prevent mustiness. Rotate cushions in sunny spots to avoid uneven fading, especially in Highveld clinics with strong UV.

Remember, our products are made to your measurements and cannot be returned if you change your mind. Always check specs and finish samples before ordering and ask us for cleaning and care tips for your climate.
